Based on the discussion , we could make a conclusion that social network undeniably cause a great benefit and advantages to the user in this modern and challenging life.

Most people use social network as entertainment, communication tool and as a source of material information. However social network could cause many disadvantages when it is misused. This effect our health , personal life and personal safety.

To avoid this situation happened, we have set a guideline on using social network. This guideline should be viewed seriously by all people so that the problem will not became much worse and to keep the society in a peaceful situation.

what safety guidelines are needed for social network

Use of social network have become one of the famous thing to community today. Not denied, social network can connecting people more easier. The user can exchange an information and increase knowledge.

However, it is also make many thing can happen that are not desired. For the example, we can see at news, occur various criminal cases involving social network. Beside that, it is also reckless especially the teenager.

Therefore, in my opinion is should put guidelines in the used of social network is to avoid the bad things happen. This guideline can be applied by the parents or anybody who put personal safety. actually this is not totally guidelines but also an opinion how to secure The guidelines that i think is necessary:

1. set only the known viewer can access the user profile information and get an information from the owner first.

2. did not trust the person that u just know.

3. always change a password so anybody else can't detect your password.

Beside that, for the parents, here a some suggestions that guidelines can be used to ensure child safety guaranteed.

1. make sure your child uses the social network for the positive reason.

2. teach them do not treat a people who are they not know.

3.make sure they uses a ethic how use the social network...

What happens when the social network is misused?


As known, nowadays the social network craze to public when it is viewed as one of the things that helpful because many activities can be done from that. But, did you know that addiction access the most influential social networks, facebook could actually encourage a person to be complacent and will eventually cause a bad impact when it is misused. Some examples of situations that show the effects of abuse facebook is when a person becomes lazy or neglect their daily routine, especially to those students and employees.

According to the article quoted in the newspaper Kosmo on February 16, 2010, this is also certified by a Senior Lecturer Communication, Department of Communication University Putra Malaysia (UPM), Ishak Abd Hamid said, facebook itself has elements that is wasting time where he considers a person would normally enjoy when other people had to respond to other profile, and this has caused them does not care to spend more time facing the computer and eventually their examination results or work carried out affected. In fact it has also supported a study by experts in the United States proves that the students there who regularly access the facebook will get results that are not satisfactory because the browser page that will require a lot of time. This has led to the students who revised their studies in less than an hour a week because too busy surfing facebook. (Mazlina Abdul Majid, 2010)

What we see here is facebook indeed bring more disadvantages than the benefits if its use has been misused. Firstly, what we see is the misused of this social life will be able to cause a browser that is disturbed in the future. This happens when they may be confronted with various problems to apply for jobs. This is because, the employer will usually find negative information about an individual that affects up to employers to reject their job applications. This is because, there are few individuals who disclose their personal also all the profile information and consider this facebook as simply to socialize and find more friends without thinking of bad impact that may occur with the attitude that they are finally invited effect on themselves.

In addition, with publicize their photos or videos to the public, this will further enhance the world of cyber crime cases when there are few parties that do elements on the treacherous certain individuals may be motivated jealousy or revenge. As a result, a person may file in indecent conditions will spread to the general public as happened to one of the famous singers, where the pictures are in private collection has been downloaded by the other parties and this had led to privacy rights have been invasion. However, when such situations occur, on whom we must blame?

There are also certain parties who abuse the freedom to write in facebook when they write a word of diffuse defamation, threats, intimidation and criticize in facebook while they have the freedom to write is not absolute because there are still limits to obey it. This has led to the writing of such fact has caused the image or good name of an individual is contaminated. For example, in this situation has led many persons who took the opportunity to express dissatisfaction or condemn their own colleagues in the social pages of this openly without thinking about what might be felt by a friend who is a victim. That is may be a bad effect on the psychology of individuals.

In conclusion, social networking will indeed benefit the user as long as they do not abuse it. It is because, misused it usually will give bad effects to the life of the individual. Therefore, safety guidelines are needed to be established to educate person in use of social networking more effectively.


Here, I want to make a conclusion about the effects when misused, especially social network of individuals themselves. I will be divided into 3 parts that is from the point of health, personal life and corner of the end point of personal safety.

1.Health

• Weak eyesight
- When people staring at a computer screen for a long time.
- Use it too much when they accessed through the internet.
- Sooner, they eyesight can get worse and give the bad impact.

• Health disorders
- When people who get addicted to facebook spend more time at home
- Less time to do outside activities
- They do not have a proper time to sleep and eat
- Sooner, they will get health disorders because they do not get rest enough.

• Can cause death
- Experiencing syndrome know as clinical disorders.
- Psychiatrists from the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland have found in their research that is after 10 people were found deed due to blood clots in the brain.
- It might be happen when someone do not do any movement until their brain cramps because they sit facing the computer in the long time.


2. Personal life

• Wasting time
- It happens when people enjoy when other people had to respond to other profile.
- They do not care to spend more time even their work carried out affected.
- Students will revised their studies in less than an hour a week
- Person become lazy or neglects their daily routine, especially to those students and employees.

• Facebook addiction
- Become a problem in one’s personal or professional life if the time spent on facebook begins to take hold of one’s life.
- Inordinate amounts of time spent on the website and self-imposed time limits are not set.

• Become anti-social
- A person might be talking to the others everyday on facebook, but they may reduce the time that they spend face to face.
- Sooner, they become anti-social and develop social anxiety disorders and maybe can also put someone into depression.

3. Personal safety

.Risk to professional life

why most people using social network ?

Social sites have become very popular. Many of us use a social site to stay in touch with family and friends. These sites include Facebook, Myspace, Friendster,Twitter, Imeem, Hi-5 and so on. There is a lot of social site nowadays and each of them have its own advantages and functions. Facebook is general, Flixster are for movie sharing, Flickr much more to photo sharing and photography related networking. Twitter has become a very popular site not only for keeping up with friend, but for advertising as well. Generally all social site allows peole who would not normally stay in touch to be able to and acces informations and pictures about one another.

Before the social networking sites exist, it was difficult to meet other internet users. You would have to rely on chat rooms, instant messaging services and communicate via email. As nice as these popular internet features are, they are not always considered safe. We just have took it on faith that other people were being honest.

Social networking websites allow us to meet people that share the same or similar interests in hobbies, religion, or politics. Most social networking websites allow you to create your own profile and even give you your own webpage. These profiles or pages will allow you to share information about yourself, including your likes and dislikes, hobbies and education.

The most popular social sites nowadays is Facebook. Facebook has a number of software functions that appeal to us such as posting one's profile, uploading pictures, finding and adding friend links, and scores of applications. It is also easy to use, example editing one's profile, sending messages, adding groups and it is highly accessible for all people around the world. The most frequent things that people do on facebook were to check on friends status, join or participate in groups and to message thier friends.

The new applications make facebook not just a way to connect but also fun. What is more interesting that we can tag a picture to our friend and put a comment there. So everyone that become your friend member also can read and put a comment to the picture. So you can interact with a large number of group and indirectly you can also get to know your friends member.

The friends that you can make are just one of the many benefits to social networking online. Another one of those benefits includes diversity because the internet gives individuals from all around the world access to social networking sites. This means that although you are in Malaysia, you could develop an online friendship with someone in Denmark. Not only will you make new friends, but you just might learn a thing or two about new cultures or new languages and learning is always a good thing.

It is also good to join the social network because you can find your old friend and new friend easily by the link from the mutual friend you got.

We also can acquire a wide range of knowledge and latest information or issues. The Facebook can be linked to a news, blog and any websites. So that we can share any information to all our friend. Many of us also use social sites to keep in touch with business contacts and network to compose or further our careers. By social sites, we can promote our company, our business and it is easier to invite your friend to join any events, programme or religious talk that you organize. What many people may not realize is that social sites can also be used to change the world, or at least make it a better place.

Besides that there were also politicians, singer or actors use these social sites to create a fan site so that they could communicate with their fans and promoting themselves. Indirectly,they would know how many supporters they got.

This topic is selected due to the social network phenomenon that has become a very popular trend and widespread in this new era of globalization.No matter what age, whether young or old, working or studying ,this phenomenon has spread widely and it is like a must to all people around the world and it make this world move without limitation.

Social network typically refers to a relationship widely between individuals and other individuals or social contacts no matter inside the country or outside the country in order to interact with each others. Social network has become a choice for the users not only because of its function as one of the medium to connect even through the social network, but also an individual can acquire a wide range of latest information and entertainment. One of the attractive entertainment which can be obtained through the social network are games and users also can exchange photos, post a comment , share videos and music among each others.
